Well received an invitation to an event at Marriott Vacation Club last evening. Holy crap …. its las vegas nite!!!! Ok here is the deal each participant, be it member or guest was given $300 chips to play for the nite. At the end of the day the highest roller would win a 3D2N stay at the Venetican, Macau.. lol ermm air tix not included but a 3D2N stay in the Royale Suite!!!! Isn’t that awesome?
Well i bought a couple friend along…. Janice and Winson… together with my wife we set off for the night whooo…. Was greeted with warm smiles from the staff at MVCI once we stepped out of the lift. Attendance taken and chips given we were then introduced to 1 of the staff there Mr Satchi who would be our host for the day. Mr Satchi was a nice guy and shared a lot with us, from his day in the army to his travel experiences and his family. All during the time when we were munching on the buffet dinner catered for us.
Had our fill of food and beverages now is the time for the “highlight” of the night. Proceeded to the tables and realized we didn’t have much of a choice. There was “Big Small”, Black Jack and Roulette. Well we seems like the 1st few there and it was kinda hard chosing which table but we settled for Black Jack in the end. Lol quite intimidating to see the croupier of 3 empty tables looking and grinning at you. Thankfully there were not dressed as toothless pirates holding scimitars.
Well since we were given $300 per pax and both our partners didn’t want to played lol both winson and i had $600 worth of chips. There was only 1 prize so to us it is either a “Do or Die” mission. Played cautiously in the beginning but towards then end when i heard someone have already raked in over $4k i was like ohhh noooo how is my $1.5k ever gonna beat that? Even with the combined chips we have on hand its still slightly below $4k. By then we have already moved on to the “Big Small” table so i threw all i had on “big” …. ding ding ding…. hands off no bets… dice revealed 4, 4,……2…. ohhh no its 10 and “Big” (which is 11 to 17) was only 1 point away. Ok i’ve successfully kissed byebye to the trip… Winson followed suit and gave all he had in 1 game lol we had the same results *Grinz*. Ok my friend wasn’t gonna go on that trip either muahahaha….
Times up!!! Game ended…. we were all ushered into another room and a small presentation was given on Marriott Vacation Membership, during which chips were collected and calculated by the staff…. We had quite some fun and lots of jokes during the presentation. One of the few whereby participants were actually joking around…. guess the “casino session” really lightened up everyone’s mood. At the end of the presentation the final results were announced…. *Drumrolls* The winner of the 3D2N stay at the Venetican Macau…… Ms …… (i didnt really catch the name) with a total of $11,000+ ($#%$#^#) crap $300 to over $11k she must be a darn good gambler….
Proceeded to have a small chat with Mr Satchi who went into a bit more details of the membership and tempting Winson and Janice. Well as always people at Marriott aint the pushy kind, explained what it was all about and analyzed it all. When it came to the decision it was really easy … interested? Or not? Can see that Winson was a bit tempted but i guess it wasn’t a good time for him now so no deal lol. With the ever friendly smile Mr Satchi presented the gift (4 vouchers to hi-tea buffet) to Winson and gracefully showed us to the exit. Well overall it was a great night with lots of fun… i hope they (Marriott) do organize a few more of such events for their members.

GONG XI FA CAI….
Well well this CNY to me was a long long holiday. Prior to CNY was awy from office since 15th Jan - 23rd Jan to fullfill my obligations to the nation…. YEAH!!! In Camp Training (ICT) aka reservist… Our office had a long break only to start work on the 8th day of CNY (02 Feb 2009 Mon) Muahaha…..
Where was i during the CNY holiday?? hmmm i can say i’ve been to 1/2 of Malaysia… Started with a long drive from SG - KL, KL - Cameron Highlands, Cameron Highlands - KL, KL - Bentong (Pahang), Bentong(Pahang) - Seremban (wife’s hometown), Seremban - Johor, Johor - SG. Phew….. i bet i have clocked a mileage of minimum 1500km those few days.
Overall the trip was quite great (someone please erase my memories of the jam in malaysia, KL, Cameron)… Yeap on day 1 (26th Jan 09) we started out from our house in SengKang approximately 4.45am? Reached my friend’s (Winson & Janice) place at 5am and we headed straight to Tuas Checkpoint. Relatively smooth without much jam at both the the checkpoints (not much drivers awake on the 1st day of CNY). After the Customs we took a leisure drive to KL, at around 11am we were in KL looking for food. Alas the dim sum which i frequent was closed on CNY day 1… bahhh… settled for some roadside stall at Jalan Alor instead.
After our lunch we started what i label the “saddest thing to happen on CNY day 1″ - We virtually spend the whole CNY day 1 in our vehicles… Believe it or not we left KL around 1-2pm and arrived at our resort in BrinChang, Cameron Highlands at 9pm. Well there were some confusion after lunch where my car which was leading the way lost “the sheep” (Winson & Janice). Had a hard time locating each other in the end we decided to head to Simpang Pulai toll on our own. Somehow we got onto the highway by different toll.
Upon exiting Simpang Pulai toll we met up and began our journey up the hill. Was around 4-5pm and i estimated we would be able to reach our resort (Strawberry Park Resort) by 5.45pm. Well we did reach Kampung Raja or was it Tringkap by 5.30pm though and GPS indicated approx 15mins more of drive at the most. Little did we realize Cameron Highland is so crowded during the peak seasons mainly the holidays and weekends and there happen to be a famous “Pasar Malam” (Night market) smack right in the centre of the town Brinchang. Well everyone on cameron highland seem to be heading there at the same time and that resulted in a jam of near 3 hours for a mere drive of less than 10km. (Lesson learned #1 - do not head into bringchang from tringkap after 4pm on peak season days when the Pasar Malan opens. #2 - do not head out of bringchang to tringkap after 11am on peak season days especially if that day happens to be the end of most 3 days 2 nights holiday in Cameron Highland. #3 Make sure you have enough fuel before heading up to Cameron Highlands from the Simpang Pulai route as the nearest petrol kiosk (Shell & Petronas) is located just slightly after the Pasar Malam of Brinchang.)
Upon arrival at our resort all of us were grumpy, hungry, butt-sored and tired, went for a quick dinner at the resort’s restaurant knowing full well that it is sooooo expensive. Below are some pictures taken on the 2nd day in Cameron Highlands. Not much as the battery was almost flat and i did not have my charger with me.

My boy is cute….. no one can deny the fact!!!!

Still as pretty as before

Tea leaves anyone?

The mini “lounge” beside Strawberry Park Resort’s Reception, I like the painting of the resort surrounded by greenery and look closely at the “sun” it is just the spotlight :P”

Having Steamboat dinner the 2nd night on Cameron Highland, brrr cold + steamboat reminds me of my winter days in australia

Tristan aka DanDan’s favourite move…. Shaking his head
